Hawai‘i Home Advocates was founded on a simple belief — when God closes a door, He opens a window — and Barbara Coote is here to be that window for homeowners who can’t find their way through.
If you’ve been turned away, overwhelmed, or simply don’t know where to start — you found the right place. Everything here is free. Nothing is required. And every path leads to your best interest.
Why I Built This
Hawai'i homeowners facing financial or personal challenges deserve the same access to information that real estate professionals take for granted. Too often, homeowners make irreversible decisions — selling too quickly, signing documents they don't understand, or missing protections they didn't know existed — simply because no one took the time to explain their options plainly.
Hawai'i Home Advocates exists to close that gap. Every guide, every resource, and every conversation I offer is free — because an informed decision is always a better decision, regardless of what you ultimately choose to do.
My Background
I retired from the United States Army after more than 20 years of service as a Lieutenant Colonel. Military service teaches you accountability, attention to detail, and a deep respect for the people who depend on you to get it right. Those values don't retire.
Most of the homeowners I work with are facing something harder than a routine sale — a Notice of Default, foreclosure, HOA lien, tax lien, divorce-driven decision, inherited property, or another situation where the stakes are high and time matters. That's why I founded Hawaiʻi Home Advocates: to make sure you understand every option — and every risk — before you decide. The education is free. So is the conversation. Always.
As a licensed Hawai'i REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker Realty and a real estate investor who has personally owned and managed rental properties, I understand the real numbers behind Hawai'i real estate — not just the theory. When I tell you honestly whether selling or renting makes more financial sense, that comes from someone who has lived both sides of that decision.
